Bat-Ami is one of the worlds top designers in
Wearable art.
Prolific
and daring, she is changing the scope of jewelry design
worldwide.
Jewelry should be comfortable to wear in every sense, it should look good on you and make you feel good about yourself she says.
Bat-Ami asabra or native of Israel, began designing and making jewelry at the tender age of 14.
Her unique style soon won national acclaim and her products sold in Israel's finest galleries.
Her first creations were in the traditional art of Filigree that she learnt from her first teacher, an old Yemenite jeweler.
It was embroidery in silver and gold, decorated by colorful stones and beads. She says, "It took a lot of patience and it gave me the opportunity to combine the old traditional art of the east with the European influence and inspiration of my origin".
It represented the spirit of the melting pot that is the essence of Israel.
After marriage and the birth of her two daughters, her career came to a halt until 18 years later, when she realized how much she missed the creativity of jewelry,
"I knew it was time to return to the
work I had begun, Bat-Ami explains,
At the age of 38 she threw herself into the creative process with
passion, intent upon making up for lost time.
She began to utilize a new technique that had previously been only of academic interest, Electroforming.
Electroforming, is a sophisticated contemporary art form using electrochemical means to create a metallic shape. The silver used is of the purest quality, as is the gold wherever it is applied as a design accent.
Bat-Ami is one of the first Israelis to develop this new technique for her creations.
After months of painstaking experimentation, she developed production values that assure quality, durability as well as individuality in every piece.
Bat-Ami, now a grandmother and successful entrepreneur, continues to expand the horizons of jewelry design and production techniques.
Her 2 daughters, Einat Kartin and Lilach Pery joined the business and are designers in their own right, becoming known world wide for their up to date contemporary and young look..
Bat-Ami's Creations are exhibited and sold in
22 countries, and are portrayed in most fashion magazines
worldwide.
